A Guide for Voters
Traditionally we have been using Ballot Papers,
Stamp and Ballot Boxes for voting. However, lately a new, better and efficient
method of polling has evolved in the form of Electronic Voting Machine. There
has been a constant effort since quite some time now to work out the possible
difficulties in using this device as the mainstream polling method. Fortunately
we have been provided a very stable, safe, secure and state-of-the-art system
now in the form of EVM. After many successful tests, EVM is being used in the
mainstream elections at some places for the first time during this Vidhan Sabha
Elections. The fool-proof-ness
of the system only suggests that EVM is here to stay.
However, the good old method of polling
is certainly not out by any means. It is still here with us for quite some
time to come. And with that there remains the ever-present problem of rejected
and invalid votes.
This guide is meant to reduce that
wastage by informing you about the right methods to cast your vote using
the traditional voting system. In addition to that an information guide
for using EVM is also provided. A little Glossary section describes the
Electoral jargon.
