The Government of State of Rajasthan
is celebrating this year the Golden Jubilee of its formation. As
part of the celebrations, the Rajasthan Golden Jubilee Celebrations
Committee headed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Gehlot
has decided to hold an "International Rajasthani Conclave- 2000"
on 15th and 16th April, 2000 at Jaipur. This occasion shall provide

- EUPR
launches Indian chapter in Jaipur
The European Union of Public Relations
(EUPR), a prestigious organisation of PR functionaries and communication
specialists, has launched its Indian chapter with its national office
in Jaipur. Alessandro Pettenuzzo, the International President of
EUPR, has nominated Dr. Manohar Prabhakar, Former Director of Public
Relations, Govt. of Rajasthan and an eminent writer, as the first
President of the Indian chapter. Dr. S.L. Gandhi, an international
nonviolence activist and intercultural PR practitioner, has been
designated its first Secretary General. Headquartered in the city
of Bolzeno, Italy, the EUPR is associated with the Department of
Public Information of the United Nations. It also has the consultative
status with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation
(UNIDO) based at Vienna in Austria.

- By-Elections
in Rajasthan on 17th February 2000.
The by-elections for the six seats
of Rajasthan Assembly will be held on 17th February 2000.The last
date of filing the nominations is 31st January. The nomination papers
will be checked on 1st February and the names can be taken back
till 3rd February. The counting will take place on 25th February.The
six seats where the by-elections are to be held are Raisingh Nagar,
Sadulpur, Mandawar, Nimbaheda, Aaspur and Aasind. These elections
in Rajasthan will be held along with the by-elections being held
in 24 other places in the Country.

Panchayat Poll process begins.
The process
for election to panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads
in Rajasthan was set in motion on January 11, 2000 with the issuing
of its notification by the District Election Officers in 30 districts.
The polls, for which the filing of nominations began on January
11, 2000, will be held to elect the members of panchayat samitis
and zila parishads as well as panches and sarpanches. The polling
will take place on January 29 and February 2, 2000. There are 956
members in 30 zila parishads in the State and 5257 members in the
237 panchayat samitis.
